Ugh! It’s one of those days when you’ve landed a client or job and you’ve hit a
roadblock. Nothing seems to come in and out of your head and you are stuck on what to do to get your creative juices flowing. Or it could be that you don’t have projects to deliver back-to-back and you feel almost jobless and have nothing to spark your inner genius that will keep you motivated.

Well in this short guide, we will be giving you five quick tips for supercharging your creativity and releasing your inner genius:

1. Try new things
This might sound cliche, but when you do things over and over again, they become routine and the chances of getting bored while doing them sits pretty high. And these habits can hinder your creativity as #freelancers. So, in order to boost your #creativity we recommend that you try new things out and avoid doing the same thing you do every day. For example, if you are a #freelancewriter that means you most likely write content for the web. So,
how about take some days and learn Photoshop or how to design with Canva? Or take that Etsy class or watch that knitting tutorial you’ve bookmarked?

2. Collaborate with other freelancers
Collaboration is the new gold and one of the best ways to brainstorm and get new ideas is to discuss with other freelancers who share the same interest as you or are in the same niche as you are. And no, collaboration doesn’t have to be an “I scratch my back, you scratch mine” agreement. It’s about helping each other and working together to achieve a common goal.

3. Make a list and save your ideas
The “Eureka” moment for everyone differs. While some get their “aha!” moment while walking, listening to music, taking a shower, watching a movie or reading a book, we tend to easily forget things when we don’t write down immediately. So, the next time an idea pops in your head, jot them down in your journal or sticky notes or use Evernote or voice record your thoughts.

4. Exercise

Freelancers tend to sit in a place and stay in front of screens for long hours. This can lead to aching fingers, intense back pains, throbbing heads or watery eyes. Therefore, doing a form of exercise (it doesn’t have to be hard ones) can help you a lot. Try starting with stretching, you will be surprised how effective that could be.

5. Declutter your workspace
Many at times, a heavily cluttered space can distract your workflow and reduce your creativity. So, to maximise your output, we recommend that you set up an organized and uncluttered workspace to help your ideas flow easily.
